Graduate Assistantship: PhD in Zooplankton Ecology​
  • General Information: This PhD program is in the Robinson Zooplankton Lab in the Department of Biology at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. It can begin for Fall 2022 or Spring 2023. The student is expected to work 20 hours a week on a research project by the Louisiana Department of Fish and Wildlife as well as work on their own research. The research will be conducted on a small research vessel in Louisiana river systems and in a lab. Duties include using a dissecting microscope, doing plankton imaging, researching biophysical drivers of freshwater zooplankton abundance and more. Long hours doing fieldwork and microscopy are expected. For more information please contact Dr. Kelly L. Masters Assistantship: Animal Behavior and Wellness at North Carolina Zoo
  • Sponsoring Institution: North Carolina State University 
  • Location: NC State/North Carolina Zoo
  • Employment Period: Two years beginning 8/09/222
  • Brief Description: This position involves taking courses at NC State-Raleigh and a research project with the North Carolina Zoo. Students will receive a Master of Science degree of Biology at the completion of this two year position. The student will work with a PhD-level curatorial staff at the North Carolina Zoo as they conduct research related to social behavior, space use, light cycles, diet and habitat changes. Tuition and health insurance is waived for eligible students and the student will serve as a teaching assistant for the two years. 
  • Compensation: Annual salary of 23,000
  • Eligibility: Qualifications include a strong background in animal behavior, biology and conservation. Must have at least four months of research experience, data analysis skills using software like excel, SPSS, etc. Must have proven interest in animal behavior or research through internships, work or other experiences.

2022 Graduate Equity Fellowship Program
  • Deadline: May 1, 2022
  • General Information: The Graduate Equity Fellowship Program seeks to increase the diversity of students completing graduate degree programs at CSUEB and courages continuation towards doctoral programs.
  • Eligibility:​ Admitted to CSUEB Master's Program, Undergraduate GPA of 2.7+, graduate GPA of 3.25+, show financial need, and enroll in 8 semesters or more per semester

Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program 
  • Application Deadline: May 4, 2022 at 5:00 PM ET
  • Program Dates: Start at the earliest date of November 14, 2022 or the latest start date of March 6, 2023 and will last from 3 to 12 consecutive months. 
  • Location: DOE National Laboratories
  • Key Info: SCGSR awardees are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world-class research and professional development environment. This program provides supplemental awards to U.S. graduate students to pursue part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE laboratory/facility in areas that address scientific challenges, and this is expected to advance the student’s overall doctoral thesis. Benefits include a monthly stipend up to $3,000 to cover living expenses and travel allowance up to $2,000 for round-trip travel. Students who are currently pursuing Ph.D. degrees in areas of physics, chemistry, material sciences, biology (non-medical), mathematics, engineering, or computer or computational sciences are eligible to apply.
