Internships are 5-month terms and paid at $15.30/hour. These positions are targeted towards recent graduates in ecology, conservation biology, and land management. Spring Internship Opportunity with the Public Engagement Program at SERC (Edgewater, MD)

- Key Info: Intern with the Public Engagement Program at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. The Public Engagement program at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) is seeking an intern to help with the research and development of hands-on activities related to women in STEM that will be implemented in public areas (i.e. public libraries). The work will involve conducting research to identify women from a variety of time periods, with a specific focus on contributions made by women of color, to feature in program materials. This research will be done independently and by working in collaboration with staff from other Smithsonian units, including the National Museum of American History, National Museum of African American History and Culture, National Museum of the American Indian, and the Smithsonian Latino Center. Members of historically underrepresented groups in STEM fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute Orchid Outreach Internship

- Program Length: Six months starting April 13, 2020
- Key Info: The Smithsonian National Zoo Conservation Biology Institute is offering a paid internship opportunity on a project focused on evaluating native orchids as indicators of forest health. The goal of this project is to record and assess the status of native orchid populations, evaluate their use as indicators of forest health, and to engage local citizens and students in conservation science.
